The Institute of Credit Management is the only UK body which offers professional qualifications in credit management. To gain a professional credit qualification, individuals must first register as students of the Institute and progress through its Education Scheme by completing the relevant examinations.
STUDYING
The Institute does not require candidates to satisfy any age or education criteria before being admitted.
QUALIFYING
Students can decide which particular qualification, of the three available, they want to achieve and progress accordingly. The qualifications are:
The Foundation Award in Credit Management
This is a stand-alone qualification that is awarded to students who successfully complete the Certificate unit
Introductory Credit Management.
The Certificate in Credit Management
This qualification is awarded to students who complete successfully the four Certificate level units:
Students who have already obtained the Foundation Award can continue with their studies later, and take the remaining three units at this level to obtain the Certificate in Credit Management. Other students can enter direct at this point without the need to obtain the Foundation Award beforehand. On passing the Certificate examinations, students will become Associate Members of the Institute and be entitled, for as long as they continue in membership, to use the designatory letters AICM(Cert) after their names.
The Diploma in Credit Management
This qualification is awarded to Associate Members who have obtained the Certificate in Credit Management and then go on to complete the four Diploma level units successfully:
On Passing the Diploma examinations Associate Members will become Graduate Members of the Institute and be entitled, for as long as they continue in membership, to use the designatory letters MICM(Grad) after their names.
Institute students in the UK may pursue their studies by evening attendance at colleges in over 30 major centres or by distance learning. A full list of colleges and study options is available from the Institute.
