Cross-border co-operation is key message at TMA's 2nd European Conference

Apr 2 2009
Turnaround specialists from all over Europe will be seeking international approaches to beating the recession when they gather in Amsterdam in June for TMA's second European Conference.

The inaugural European Conference held in Paris last year attracted more than 150 delegates from TMA's seven EU chapters. The second event is being hosted by the newly-formed Netherlands Chapter, with the opening keynote address being given by Andrew Wilkinson, Managing Director of restructuring at Goldman Sachs in London.

Alain Le Berre of Huron Consulting of London and Paris will chair a special session on funding; Petr Smutny of PriceWaterhouse Coopers of Prague will chair a session on Eastern European issues; and Tony Groom of Cambridge-based K2 partners will host a panel on entrepreneurial turnarounds.

TMA (UK) European Director Alan Tilley of Bryan Tappy & Tilly said that in the era of globalisation, turnaround specialists had to address business distress and recovery from an international perspective.

“There is no doubt that as this recession unfolds there will be a need for cross-border co-operation,” he said. “So this is a timely event aimed at exploring just where we are in the downturn and identifying the evolution of legislation and processes across Europe that will be essential items in the turnaround practitioner's toolkit.”

Topics will include a crisis status update, a round-Europe survey, and a look ahead at the key issues on the road to recovery. There will be sessions on how to survive a crisis, funding turnarounds, legislation updates, and opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The Conference is being held at the Marriott Hotel in Amsterdam on 18th and 19th June.
